Time of the year to start on the projects !

Besides the drill of saving your own life , something else to consider.....
Seems that the hot exhaust pipes pressurized the gas tank , and then ruptured something.
(Maybe a heat shield removed..and then some ?)
I was wondering how and why the fuel could spray into the cockpit.
After a bit of digging I found this completely unrelated thread , which advises some weight saving tips:

Is all this this really worth the weight saving ????????
