Ubuntu Server 16.04 - c'est quoi la joke avec le networking?

Je commence a tester pour upgrader certaines VM a Ubuntu Server 16.04 et je catch pas ce qu'ils ont fait a leur networking.

Avant t'editais le fichier interfaces avec les infos pour ton adresse statique pis ca marchait tout de suite.

La je "gosse" depuis plus d'une heure pis j'ai juste reussi a scrapper la VM 2-3 fois. La seconde t'edit le fichier le networking marche pus!

ifconfig donne juste la loopback interface mais la aus160 (qui remplace eth0 dans la nouvelle version) sort pas.

En plus si tu remets "interfaces" avec l'ancienne information ca revient juste pas on dirait que tout le networking est scrap!

Quand je boot je vois passer un FAILED en rouge mais ca passe trop vite pour que je puisse le lire.

Avez vous deja sette une IP statique sous cette version? C'est quoi la recette du succes?

Après le changement, tu obtiens une nouvelle MAC, shutdown ta VM, vas dans ton VM manager et update le MAC.
 
So that didn't work.

After much testing and scrapping VMs after VMs I discovered that if I edit the adapters config file using nano (CLI) it updates it but will not work, for some reason the system will not read it.

However if I install any GUI frontend for Ubuntu Server (I actually went ahead and installed Ubuntu Desktop GUI...) and sudo open/edit the file by starting nautilus as sudo - open terminal, sudo nautilus, then edit the file - it works.

WTF is going on here? I'm calling some kind of obscure permission setting by why the hell would Ubuntu make it so difficult to manage something as simple as a static IP on their server? First thing anyone with a server will do is set a static IP no?
