Volvo's new 4-cylinder 2.0l, turbocharged & Supercharged hybrid engine

So Volvo just announced their new T8 engine that will be feature in the upcoming XC90. The engine will probably be one of the highest-tech engine ever developed. Not only does the teasers look absolutely insane, the exterior renders looks amazing.

Tenez-vous bien! Volvo viennent tout juste d'annoncer la motorisation du prochain #XC90! Voici le tout nouveau moteur T8 Twin Power, un moteur 4-cylindres de 2.0L Turbocompressé ET Suralimenté assistez par une motorisation hybride! Le #XC90 sera également capable de rouler sur 40km en mode 100% électrique!

Les chiffres maintenant: Puissance de 400hp , 472pi.lb de couple et des émissions de seulement 60g de C02 par kilomètre!

Awesome. A company that was rumored to be going out of business comes up with this, meanwhile Toyota is going to use Mazda for their small engines.

I want that engine, in one of these please.

not one problem but 2...and what is the advantage of that? over say ...a v6 turbo? fuel consumption...meh..

Supercharger is more effective in low RPM...

Turbocharger is more effective for top end.

"Technically speaking" having both would give awesome power literally everywhere in the powerband.

See it as a turbo setup with no lag, but literally no lag.

a lease that you return after 3years ? I don't have a problem with that. Volvo are really agressive in their pricing lately.
 
i understand the turbo/supercharger.. VW already did that with the 1.4 engine in australia, but i think it's too much trouble compared to a diesel-hybrid for exemple..

jveux une version diesel avec le moteur electrique moi

Le problème des hybrides Diesel-Électrique, c'est que les moteurs Diesel n'aiment pas le cycle arrêter/redémarrer continuel qu'un hybride impose.

Sinon, certain que VW aurait en aurait un (en Europe, pas ici, parce qu'ici, VWoA comprend rien...)
