Buying a used Subaru is an awful idea

"Apparently, what happens is this: you're cruising along one day in your 2004-2009 S4, listening to electronic dance music, thinking about how cool it would be to stance a Rolls-Royce Phantom."

lol'd

lol guess what

What car?

2004_silver_Porsche_911_Carrera_type_997.jpg

Yep.

Doesn't keep people from purchasing in awe.

I'm running a time bomb supposedly because the 2.5L on my car has the same guides problem. I drive mine like I stole it and keep it freshly well maintained and in top condition. No issues so far, but yeah, it's an econobox and a Volkswagen, so we're all past the horrible reliability issues and electrical fire jokes so I'm alright.

http://carbuying.jalopnik.com/how-to-own-a-ridiculously-cheap-and-reliable-porsche-91-1668638286

This is not the only terrible Audi, there are many others including the C5 allroad. I believe there newer cars are better (but I gave up on Audi after owning two of them).

I have owned 3 Subaru's, a 2007 WRX Stage 2, 2012 STi and 2012 WRX stage 1 and I have never had one single issue with any of them. I don't beat on them 24/7 but I am no means soft on them. Honestly there is a lot people out there who drive their cars like douche bags ripping on them 24/7, not taking proper care of them (Not letting car warm up before flooring it, not letting it cool down after beating on it, and not properly maintaining them). I won't say they are the best engine that money can buy, but if you take proper care of them, they are one of the funnest cars you can buy for such a reasonable price. I have had a LOT of cars and of all different power levels and many had much more power than my Subaru's but yet I always have a fonder love for these cars.

I am not saying that every Subaru owner that gets an engine problem was their own fault BUT I am damn well sure that there is a hell of a lot of them who don't have a damn clue how to properly take care of a care than when it blows they try and say that Subaru's are shit. There is a lot more shitty Subaru owners than shitty Subaru cars.

Only work I have ever done to any of my Subaru's was regular maintenance and not a single one of them has ever burnt a drop of oil.

You are honestly wasting your time and breath. When you have mods on this site making threads with titles like this one, which has nothing to do with the content posted, with the goal to bait non-constructive car discussion..... you know there is a systematic issue with the way this site is run. I applaud you for having your heart in the right place, but sadly your words will only be interpreted as misguided. The site you joined in 2005 is not the site you're on now.

Totaly worth it

I saved the picture of that motor....

WTF, that is a lot of chains and a ton of HUGE plastic tensioners , no thank you. I thought BMW 4.4 tensioners were bad.

Next time I even think of buying a used S4 I just have to look at it.
