My 2 year old almost died after eating 1 kashew!

We just picked up the epi pen, got 4 and getting more soon for all the places she frequents. I still got the image of her standing on the bed at the intensive care unit, in her diaper only, red like a lobster, shaking and arms out trying not to touch her body. She was brave for her age, thank God for first world country!

Mais esti que je trouve ca cave qu'on est besoins d'une prescription pour un epi-pen.

Ca devrait se trouver dans tout les foyer, on sait jamais a quoi on est allergique, on peut le devenir a nimporte quelle moment.

Aussi, meme si on est pas allergique au guepe, si on pile sur un nid et qu'on se fait piquer 50x ca peut nous sauver la vie le temps de se rendre a l'hopital.

Garder vos vieilles épipen, meme si moins efficace sa peut vous sauver la vie ou celle d'un ami.

C'est une bonne idée, en fait la trousse de premier soins obligatoire dans les endroits publique devrait en contenir un sans exception

May I ask which onces you got? The epipen with the voice commands is the best one imo. Its really good in case something happens and no one trained to use an epipen is around. Plus it delivers the epinephrine faster than the standard yellow pen.
 
Reading that gave me goose bumps and shivers down my spine. Must have been the most tense moments of your life, so happy for you she'll be fine.
 
Moi ça me fait freaker toutes ces histoires d'allergies là... Bâtard, dans le temps s'il y avait 1 élève ou 2 d'allergique dans l'école au complet c'était beau...
 
Content que vous ayez bien réagi et sauvé la petite . En même temps je me demande s'il existe un genre de scanner portatif pour détecter la présence de x ou y allergène ...bien sûr qu'on ne pourrait tout scanner ce que l'enfant va avaler . Ils peuvent scanner toutes sortes de molécules (dope)...

Nice find buddy! Merci! Can't hurt to have it! We got the world in the diaper bag so 1 extra item won't hurt. Checking out this food scan thing in the morning! Glad I shared the event! Learning from you guys and getting the word out!

Sorry to hear. I have the same type of allergies. I can eat peanuts, almonds, walnuts. But I can't eat kashews, pistachios, coconuts. So basically all the good nuts. I can drink coconut water though.

I cringed the whole time reading your post because of the part where she popped the whole kashews in her mouth because I would of gotten the same reaction she did.

So just letting you know she will probably be able to eat some nuts but not all. Keep an eye out for the ones I mentioned that I can't eat.

As she gets older she will sometimes be able to smell the nuts she's allergic to before she even puts it in her mouth. Watch out for chocolate that has any kind of nuts in it. Especially gronola bars. There will be times where she will mistakingly eat something and just a few flakes of the stuff will make her feel uneasy in the throat. Shell stop to eat it.but this will come with age.

Also keep an eye out for Indian food. There's a chance there might be coconut or pistachios used in the food.

Being allergic to kashews is WAY better than being allergics to peanuts imo (even though kashews are the best haha). There is just sooooo much things made out of peanuts/peanut butter it's unbelievable, you pretty much have to watch every single thing you are eating if it's a severe allergy.

Kashews aren't that rare but not as common as peanuts so it's less of a pain for your day2day. Still sucks though, their so good :bigup:

je pense pas que tu puisse être accroc a la sensation..

Le cœur te débat comme si tavais eu la peur de ta vie. Par contre dans ma formation de secouriste ils ont insister sur le fait que cest vraiment pas dangereux. Le seul dangé cest de pas l'administrer. Tu peux ten shooter au 15 minutes jusqua l'hôpital si t'en a assez.

Par contre je sais vraiment pas quoi sa ferait si tu ten shoot 3 d'un coup. Mais je vois ca comme de l'aspirine, tu peux en acheter sans prescription, mais si tu mange un pot tu peux mourir.

Sauf que l'épipen elle a sauve des vie.

I lost someone close to me to a peanut allergy.
It's nothing to joke about.
Keep an epipen with you at all times. You don't want to save 200$ over someone's health.

1- C'est dispendieux un Epipen.
2- Il y a pénurie. Tu ne peux pas passer une commande pour 500 Epipens demain matin. ROFL
 
C'est environ 100$ un épipen.

J'en ai une a job, une a maison.

Je fais partie des mesure d'urgence a mon bureau, tout le monde est avisé ou est mon épipen. Même si un inconnu en a besoins, ils sont aviser qu'ils peuvent l'utiliser.
C'est pas 100$ qui va me mettre dans rue et ces payé par mes assurances.

Pour ceux qui ont pas d'épipen, vous pouvez garder du Bénadryle a la maison, ça aussi sa peut aider en cas d'urgence jusqu'à temps d'être rendu a l'hôpital.
