Fragile Folks Triggered by Honking.

I'm still not sure what to make of this article but I find it so strange that I had to share.

https://www.msn.com/en-ca/news/cana...agitated-due-to-honking/ar-AAAois3?li=AAggNb9

“If (drivers) are in a situation where they feel threatened by another driver’s dangerous driving behaviour, then to ensure their safety and the safety of others, a horn honk is warranted,” White said in an interview. “But if the purpose of their horn honk is out of rage or impatience, then it is important for them to take a moment and realize that waiting an extra three seconds at a traffic light is much better than startling another driver to the point of potentially causing an accident.”

"The survey also found 34 per cent of Canadians were in favour of issuing fines of up to $350 for illegal use of the car horn."

New Yorkers would have a field day with this one..

Cliffs: When that millennial is sitting there stationary at a green light, staring at their phone in their own little world, don't dare give them a honk or you might snap them out of their little bubble (thus violating their safespace) and that can be dangerous and cause accidents.

Agreed, especially annoying to hear that at night in residential areas when you're trying to relax. The horn chirp can be disabled but those people are either too lazy to look it up in the owner's manual or don't care.

-let say youre trying to find a parking place. Then people lock their doors : ''horn''. I always slowdown/brake/look around then realize it was not a real warning. Worst when they press 2-3 times, it looks like a real warning.

- then you walk to go in the store. Same story , but its louder since youre out of your car...

bmw/audi are nice, its a little big sound.

GM/kia/hyundai, are using full 12v on all horn. FU

You were sitting at a green arrow for almost 8 seconds before moving. Pull out a stopwatch and time 8 seconds. Feels like an eternity when you're in the car behind you. The green arrow probably last about 15 seconds or so? Meaning that instead of 6-7-8 cars being able to turn on that green, you'll probably get 2-4. I'm not criticizing you, but I see this on a daily basis and have to admit it bothers me. Doing this literally single-handedly makes traffic worse which has a trickle down effect and in the end the result is a less efficient society as a whole. Less cars get through that green light= more cars will be lined up next time it's red, etc...

But what I'm getting at is that the lady behind you gave a light tap on her horn, just to get your attention, which is completely acceptable IMO and it had the desired effect. It had nothing to do with her being impatient and should not ever warrant a ticket for illegal use of a horn. Horns are our cars voices and communication on the road is important.

I use my horn when I feel it's necessary, and the only people I ever see that are startled by it are the people who are sitting there like brain dead zombies staring at their lap (phone). It shakes them out of their little bubble. This article is basically trying to convince us that the person honking the horn is a danger, but the selfish entitled asshole that's staring at their phone is not. It's like idiocracy at work here... Making/proposing laws that protect idiots instead of addressing the real issue.

Again srt_mod, this is not directed at you, especially if you were watching the traffic like you said and not using your phone.

green arrow like that mean go, you can go, there's no other cars to look at. Just go you have a safe space.

You miss read ... the arrow appeared at 8 sec ...
at 8 sec i would not have said anything, and yes like i said the honk was just a small one

but that intersection also have a catch..you can turn on the red if you want ....
the catch ... the first car view is obstructed by the ABRIBUS but is fine for the second car .... so they wonder why you don't move

green arrow like that mean go, you can go, there's no other cars to look at. Just go you have a safe space.

That is so untrue ...
Don't mix having the right to and everything being clear ...
with that logic i would probably have lost 5 or 6 car already

if you drive like you just said lucky for you ... but it's not the safe way to do it

I felt the exact same thing as you when I first say that advertisement. My first reflex was that she should not be allowed to drive "in her bubble" like that but hey, that's the SAAQ's problem.

But yeah, fuck people are so hesitant it hurts. No wonder on rainy days traffic is at a standstill on the highways. This morning I had to run home ~11h and I had the Sidekick and I was constantly passing people driving 80KPH on the 40. Why?

Because it's wet.

Bottom like has been said: People who are afraid of driving should stay the fuck home or get a bus pass.

I didn't misread, I counted about 8 seconds. Light goes green at 0:08, lady honks at 10-11 seconds, your car starts moving at 0:15. So it was probably closer to 7 seconds, not 8.
