Quand on pense à une voiture américaine, on pense immédiatement à un gros moteur, un style d’enfer, un son à réveiller les morts et l’absence d’un toit, permettant de rouler cheveux au vent à travers le désert et les plaines.
C’est justement ce qu’offre Ferrari avec sa F60America pour célébrer ses 60 ans aux États-Unis. Seulement 10 seront produites, et elles sont déjà vendues. Basée sur la F12 Berlinetta, la F60America est presque entièrement remaniée : quasiment tous les panneaux de carrosserie sont différents, l’intérieur reçoit un habillage fait de matériaux composites et est peint en rouge pour la place du conducteur, les sièges sont décorés du drapeau américain et les nouvelles ailes reçoivent un badge spécial commémorant les six décennies du manufacturier en sol américain. La peinture bleue est en hommage aux couleurs de l’équipe de course North-American Ferrari Team (NART).
Le toit de la F60America a été remplacé par des anneaux antiretournement recouverts de fibre de carbone. Une capote souple peut se déployer électriquement même si la voiture roule sur l’autoroute : elle est conçue pour pouvoir se rabattre à moins de 120 km/h.
Sous le capot, Ferrari a légèrement remanié le moteur V12 : il développe maintenant 740 chevaux, et combiné à une boite automatique à double embrayage, permet au bolide de pulvériser le 0-100 en 3,1 secondes, soit aussi rapidement que la F12 Berlinetta d’origine (si l’on prend en compte le poids supérieur occasionné par le mécanisme du toit rétractable, il s’agit d’une belle victoire).
Chaque exemplaire s’est vendu pour 3,2 millions US.

That is exactly what Ferrari created to celebrate its 60 years of operation on American soil: the F60 America is a limited-run edition of only 10 units, and they have all been sold. While it is based on the F12 Berlinetta, the whole car has been modified. Nearly every single body panel is different, the interior receives a load of composite-material accents, the seats are adorned with the American flag and the fenders feature a special badge commemorating the six decades of Ferrari’s American history. The blue paint job is a tribute to the Ferrari North American Racing Team (NART).
The top of the standard F12 Berlinetta has been replaced with a set of anti-roll hoops covered in carbon fibre. When the weather is uncooperative, a cloth top can be raised electrically, as long as the car is not doing over 120 km/h.
Under the hood, Ferrari lightly massaged the V12 engine, which now produces 740 horsepower, and coupled with a seven-speed double-clutch gearbox, is sufficient to propel the car to 100 km/h in 3.1 seconds, about as fast as the F12 (when you consider the extra weight of a convertible mechanism, this is an achievement).
Each of these 10 unique Ferraris sold for $3.2 million US.
