The signal sender is waterproof, however the signal isn't. Radio/radar signals don't travel through water, not for long anyway. You have to be nearly on top of it to catch it.
They'll find it, like they found the Air France Airbus that crashed out of Rio a few years back.
Unfortunately, real life technology isn't quite up to Hollywood standards yet.
Black boxes can emit a signal for up to 30 days at depths around 20 000 ft I think, don't know what's the range of it though.
Let's hope this one isn't as hard as AF447 to find.
