This is the second installment of a three part series. First I covered Porsche in Stuttgart and now it's time to move on to BMW
For some a pilgrimage to "The Holy Land" is a rite of passage, for me that pilgrimage has always been visiting BMW. I've been captivated by the famous "roundel" since I was a kid and my earliest memory of the brand comes from when my uncle took me for a ride in his then new E30 Cabrio. Needless to say this trip was in the works for several years but got pushed off every year until a few weeks ago. The BMW Museum, Welt and World headquarters are located at the Munich Olympiapark which is on the north side of town. Getting there via public transit is rather simple as the "Olympiazentrum" Untergrundbahn (U-Bahn) station is practically a couple hundred feet away. If arriving by car you there is an underground lot at BMW Welt.
As the train was getting closer to the stop my heart started beating faster and faster... Then it happened
BMW World Headquarters and Museum. The tower represents 4 cylinders of an engine as at the time the M10 engine was the mainstay of BMW.
The cost to tour the museum is 8 euros and you will need about 1.5-2 hours of time.
Hmm this thing looks really really familiar...
When F1 drivers were men
This BMW-Sauber was hung on the wall
V10 F1 engine. It was so small I could almost carry it away..
Clay F30
hall of engines.. I wanted to fill my pockets with much needed spare parts
Hall of 3er
I think I might had shed a tear...
One of the best cars they ever made
8er sitting all alone
Z8
507
All stacked
These need no introduction...
Then it went to 11
Once again everyone was very respectful of the cars on display as there are no barriers around them.
