SMCC Economy Run - 18 juin - How low (L/100km) can you go?

The Economy Run is back in 2011. Le parcours sera pareil qu'en 2010. So we'll see if anyone can beat the 4.05L/100km pulled off last year by a '98 Civic with chin spoiler.

C'est ouvert a tous, peu importe la voiture autant que ca puisse circuler legalement sur les routes du Quebec. The route is 100% asphalt, and many roads are really fun to drive, and therefore even more of a challenge to drive economically!

last year was reallllllly nice!

the road selected by Smcc were awesome and its pretty hard to not push on the gas pedal always reminding yourself you need to keep momentum and economy.

and you just hope to not get behind elderly people who drive like half the speed limit :D


i might not be there this year . already have something planned for the 18.

If it took place in Saskatchewan, I'd agree. But when you're engine-off-coasting down a Lanaudiere hill heading into an unbanked corner hesitating to touch the brakes to lose momentum and knowing you only have one good shot of power assist left... :yikes:

The black (because that is clearly the most economical colour) Sentra managed that awesome result by having the engine off for about half the rally. All sprint and drift.

Desole pour le conflit avec SCLC. On a du deplacer le rallye Greenhorn, et il ne restait que le 18.

The Smart Club seems pretty fired up about this. Might need some hybrids and other diesels to give them a good challenge. Parlez-en a vos amis ! ;)
 
Ahhh ben la preuve qu'une Nissan Sentra B13 c'est tres economique comme sur la photo du thread.
J'ai faite un aller retour Saint-Zotique/Mont Orford a 105 km/h tout le long et revenir et il m'a couter 22 litres d'essence pour 420 kilometres.
La seule modification que j'ai c'est un short ram intake Injen et des pneus 155/80/13 cheap wal-mart gonfler comme du monde.

We could open this up to bikes too. The only challenge is the solo navigation/timing. You'd probably want to have a tank bag to put the instructions in. And we'd probably send them out a few days in advance so that you can review and punch the route into GPS (if you have one).

P.S. Club Smart is taking this seriously: Life membership if a Smart wins the Economy Run!
 
wow quelle bonne idée, j'espère que ça puisse devenir une compétition assez sérieuse pour que le monde fasse des tests et de la recherche un peu. Quelqu'un qui jouerait dansle tuning de la map pour appauvrir pourrait surement arriver à quelque chose de bien.

On aimerait bien que plein du monde embarquent. J'ai fait le parcours hier, puis ca m'a rappele a quel point la style de conduite est important et les habilites aussi. Un Prius mal conduit se ferait massacrer par un pickup bien hypermile. En tout cas, les routes sont BELLES et fun a conduire.

I did the route on 45 profile tires, so there's no excuse for anyone to exclude their car as they might from other SMCC rallies. There's about 3km of bumpy stuff worth slowing down for (well indicated in the instructions) and apart from that, the roads are often pretty awesome by Quebec standards. I added a promo video in the first post, so have a look!

I participated in their last navex rally and had a blast. It's well organised, both people in the car actually participate and it starts and finish early so still get to enjoy your day after.

Vtec-E sur les Civic VX, c'était déjà tuné.
On fait à peine mieux 20 ans plus tard (sans turbo ou diesel du moins).

En plus il a fait genre 110+ mpg a un autre Economy Run aux States.

en ville je fat 21L/100 et autoroute 15L/100

Si t'utilises des techniques hypermiler au Economy Run, je suis certain que tu pourrais descendre ca en bas de 10L/100km. Ca serait un test interessant !

Follow-up: Est-ce que du monde seraient interesse qu'on fasse une classe pour les motos ???

The craziness of F1 weekend is over, time to think Economy now! :p

Voici des voitures qu'on aimerait voir pour pouvoir evaluer leur performance dans des conditions controles et realistes :
  • Prius
  • Insight
  • Civic Hybrid / CR-Z
  • Fiesta / Mazda 2
  • Smart
  • Kei
  • etc.

On a deja des Smart qui participent (Club Smart) alors ca serait le fun de pouvoir comparer leur performance surtout aux hybrides. ;)

So far my money is on this car though:

And, if you don't have a super-economical car, come out anyway and enjoy the drive and see just how low you can go. We will make a class for anything as long as there are at least 2-3 vehicles of that type. ;)

Vous pouvez toujours vous inscrire sur place a la derniere minute, but let us know if you're planning to participate.
