Who likes car magazines?

I don't normally do this but it's something I'm quite proud of:

I recently had the opportunity to edit and manage the fifth edition of the Mighty Car Mods Magazine.

Yeah I know, most of you probably haven't heard of them but I've been working for them for about two years doing miscellaneous tasks, of which that included writing articles for previous versions of the magazine.

The magazine is ran by the MCM forum staff (of which I am included) as well as guest writers from around the world, with a next to no budget just for the sake of creating an awesome piece of automotive literature that enthusiasts can enjoy. And I'll be honest as each issue goes by it blows me away with the quality we keep cranking out.

Our readership isn't that big currently (around 10,000) and I'm really hoping it'll start to take off soon, which I believe it will.

The quality and design honestly rebel magazines such as the likes of Super Street or Import Tuner but at a fraction of the price. One of the main reasons we do this is because it is currently a digital copy only as hardcopies would cost in excess of $100,000. This is needless to say none of us are deemed professionals by any means so that makes the comparison that much more meaningful.

Since they are digital copies only, we've optimized it for iOS and tablet devices.

It would really mean a lot to me if you guys checked it out, it's only $3 and there is over 100 pages this issue.

All the money goes directly to the show and to fund succeeding magazines.

This issue, however means a great deal to me because I was promoted to editor and managed the entire magazine.

For those who know me it's something I'm quite proud of, being someone of my stature (poor uni student)

I don't plan on editing very many more magazines since the entire process was very long and demanding and when school is back I unfortunately think it'll be too much for me to handle.

I'm not in school studying journalism or to become an english major, I simply write for the love of writing because I get to express myself in a manner relevant to one of my favorite things in the world: the car scene. When my talents get picked up by people like Farm Of Minds and when trust is instilled in my by MCM it's really a cool thing.

If you don't grab this issue, you'll have a chance again to check out my next issue which may be one of my last.

Just so you guys know, there are a couple easter eggs hidden in the magazine that relate to MR.

I'll some hints: A certain sticker on the back of a 180sx and the other hint is a certain MR members car may be getting a full feature in the upcoming months (not this current issue.)

Anyways, the link is right here for those interested, it would me a lot to me!

I love car magazines.
Especially when the people are super cool and put your stickers on their cars :)

we've optimized it for iOS and tablet devices.

so no Android or simply shitty experience?
And is it all tablets or only iPad?
and why iOS as most have Androids now?

My apologies, it's actually optimized for pretty much all mobile devices, including android. All you need is a mobile pdf viewer and you're good to go!

Headbanger, that has nothing to do with me but rather MCM's choice to make it available easily on mobile devices since most people are always on the go, however it does look a lot better on a computer due to the dual page design/layout it has.

For those who're checking it out, much love and I really appreciate it. I guarantee you guys won't be disappointed! Feel free to shoot me any feedback for issue 5 though :)

Yeah man they've got a lot of content on youtube, that's where they started whereas this is a side project which can include a lot more content related to the automotive scene and technicalities than their show!

You're also correct in saying they're australian based, out of sydney to be specific! Whereas I'm the only one on the team outside of Australia, so it does make things difficult at times!

Props Jmac! I love car mags with a fury & have quite the collection, including a few Aussie-based ones... MCM is really cool to me, having lived in Aus 3+years; love their nutty antics & accent!! Best of luck juggling uni & mag editing; I'll be checking out this & previous issues soon *tu*

Thats really AWSOME dude! Love watching their stuff on Youtube. Like the others said, japan car auction is my fav :)

If I get a chance when I am at home ill check it out. Love to support Montreal based writers :)

Knowing their car scene and culture definitely makes you appreciate it that much more for sure!

Thanks for the support man, hopefully I can squeeze out one or two more articles!
