Built by Danny and Martin and the team at DM Motorsport in L’Épiphanie, Quebec, Canada, it twists up to a whopping 786 horsepower – on pump fuel – on the dyno in this video.

The team at DM specializes in Volkswagen, Audi, and Porsche vehicles, and their expertise comes through in this engine build.

Martin at DM Motorsport was happy to provide the details on the engine, as we were quite impressed with its output given the size of the package.

“It uses a stock-bore R32 engine base using a set of Cunningham H-beam connecting rods, lower-compression JE pistons, and a complete set of Calico bearings. We have ARP rod and main studs along with Raceware head studs. Supertech supplied the valvetrain, and we use custom camshafts,” he explains.

On the intake side, a 5.7L HEMI throttle body was used to feed the custom DM Motorsport short runner intake manifold, and on the exhaust side DM Motorsport built a custom turbo manifold that uses long runners and has been ceramic coated in-house.

The entire turbo system was also built in-house at DM Motorsport including the 3-inch stainless intercooler piping. Precision Turbo got the call for one of its 825-horsepower-capable intercoolers, and the main motivation comes from one of Precision’s PT 67/66 turbochargers.

A DM Motorsport custom double 2.5-inch downpipe is also used to take the exhaust gas away from the turbocharger. A TiAL 44mm wastegate and a pair of Forge Motorsport 007 blowoff valves are employed to control turbocharger boost.

Engine management is provided by a custom ECU flash in the Unitronic ECM activating a set of Injector Dynamics 1000cc sprayers that are fed from a pair of Bosch 044 fuel pumps.

The drivetrain in the car consists of a triple-disc clutch set from DM Motorsport, a complete transmission gearset from DM Motorsport, and front-and-rear limited-slip differentials from Peloquin. The all-wheel-drive system is controlled by a Haldex controller.

245.62 horsepower per liter – now that’s the kind of engine project anyone can appreciate!
