Last January Quebec announced a plan to allow personalize license plates starting in 2015. That plan is reportedly on hold according to a report by TVA.
The Quebec transport ministry is concerned with offensive English expressions appearing on license plates. Expressions such as “WTF” are apparently a cause for concern. Furthermore there are worries that customized plates won’t respect Quebec’s language laws.
The province already envisioned banning other offensive words such as FLQ or NAZI so it’s unclear why they can’t just ban other words they find offensive.
