Formula Drift Announces New Canadian Series

Brossard, Québec – It was just announced at the Scion Canada head office that Formula Drift will roar back into Canada this season not with one event – but with a full drifting series.

The schedule has events in three cities, namely Montreal, Québec and Trois Rivières in addition to the final World Championship Round also in Montreal (at Autodrome St-Eustache) which makes four events. They also hinted at the possibility to expand into Ontario in the near future.

This likely poses problems for the struggling Drift Mania Canadian Championship which has five events planned for 2015 but none in Montreal which makes it hard for teams to attract big sponsors.

Formula Drift made history last year with the largest and most successful drifting event ever held in Canada when American teams came to compete with the top Canadian talent at Autodrome St-Eustache. It also set an attendance record for a drifting event at the track with upwards of ten thousand people participating.

This summer is shaping up to be a great year for automotive enthusiasts. Follow MontrealRacing.com on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and the discussion forums to not miss a beat! We catalog every upcoming event in our calender as well.

Correction: An earlier version of this article suggested FD Canada’s event held the absolute attendance record at Autodrome St-Eustache. That record actually belongs to the Paul Walker Memorial Ride which also took place last year.
