Dodge has had to suspend all orders for the ultra-fast versions of the Charger and Challenger models due to what it says is overwhelming demand. The company had been inundated with orders for 2015 models, receiving twice as many as it planned to produce.
The cars are currently the most powerful American production vehicles ever made boasting 707 horsepower and top speeds of 200 MPH.
“Due to unprecedented demand for the 2015 Dodge Charger and Challenger SRT Hellcats, we are temporarily restricting orders while we validate current orders that are in the system,” the company told Fox News.
Dodge has had to recall all 2,211 Hellcats delivered to date for a fuel leak. This news broke on March 2nd and you can read more about the recall from hotrod.com. Some readers have suggested the suspension of production and the recall are related but it seems rather unlikely.
