Every year it’s the same story. On the first snow fall of the year, the collective amnesia of Quebec motorists rears its ugly head and the result is a total nightmare of a commute.
Never mind that at least 50% of motorists don’t even know how to drive in the summer, add a nice sheet of ice and sleet under their wheels, reduce their visibility and the result is a disaster.
Many are also caught off guard driving on summer tires because the government only mandates snow tires being installed by December 15 and everyone knows it never snows before December 15 in Quebec, right?
Why is it like this? Why do people never remember how to drive in snowy conditions after only eight months? It’s fun to blame Quebec but it all honestly, it’s a problem everywhere.
There is one group of people who look forward to this day more than any other: tow truck drivers. We should call this national tow truck driver appreciation day!
Drive safe!
