[:fr]Voici un peu de l’histoire à propos du projet dévoilé lors du Paul Walker Memorial Ride samedi dernier. Le projet a été lancé en mars 2015 par David Deschenes qui apprécie beaucoup le film qui met en vedette la Toyota Supra orange. De profession, il est directeur de production de jeu vidéo et de deux écoles desgraff.com. Il a aussi parti le premier musée de jeu vidéo Canadien permanent (museejeuxvideo.com) en janvier 2012.
David l’a reçu comme dans le film – accidenté et en piteux état et tout a recommencé. Il a vécu tout le cycle de reconstruire la voiture de Paul Walker – une tache très difficile dont plusieurs auraient abandonné avant. Beaucoup de temps, et de ressources ont y été consacré sur la voiture et la recherche de pièces sur la route et il a dû emprunter pour avancer le projet.
Cette réplique est spéciale du à l’attention aux détails du film. Il a comme ami, l’aide fort apprécié de Craig Leiberman, celui qui a fabriqué la voiture originale du film pour répondre à des questions pointues. A date, Craig lui a confié que ce serait la réplique la plus exacte qu’il a vu à date, même s’il reste du travail à faire. David a ensuite demander l’aide et expertise de Yan chez Lettrage LAP qui a réussi à reproduire et imprimer des collants sur le véhicule d’une qualité impressionnante.
A cause des couts élevés, il doit attendre pour acheter la transmission, les calipers Stillen et les bouteilles de NOS. Mais suite au reportage de MontrealRacing.com à l’événement PWMR vue par plusieurs sur les réseaux sociaux, un bon samaritain au nom de Rocky est venue apporter une transmission Getrag à David. David, ému par ce geste, lui a donné les clefs de sa 300ZX.
MontrealRacing sera en contact avec Dave pour la suite dans un autre article pour la finalité du projet et son dévoilement officiel. Son rêve est que un jour sa voiture ferais partie d’une scène d’un futur film ou on retrouve la voiture pour faire plaisir aux fans de la série. Cela pourrais crée une forte réaction parmi les spectateurs et les fans authentiques comme David et bien d’autres qui ont grandi sur cette série culte.

The project was launched in 2015 by David Deschenes who was a big fan of the first Fast And The Furious film in which Paul Walker drove the famous Orange Supra. By trade David is a video game producer and director at two schools teaching students how to create 2D and 3D digital art for the gaming and entertainment industries (desgraff.com). He’s also the founder of the first permanent video game museum in Canada (museejeuxvideo.com) which launched in 2012.
David received the car much like it was delivered in the film – crashed and needing a rebuild. He embarked on the huge task of completing a project car which is something that many have tried and failed before him. A lot of time and resources were dedicated to the project and to the finding of the rare parts that were required and David even had to borrow money to ensure its completion.
This replica is special because of all the details in the car from the film. Dave is lucky to have the help of Craig Leiberman who was the builder of the original film car. Craig has mentioned that Dave’s replica is the most accurate one he’s seen to date, despite having more work to do prior to its completion. Dave also enlisted the help of Yan from Lettrage LAP who was able to reproduce and print the graphics to precision.
Due to monetary concerns, Dave has had to wait before installing the transmission, Stillen calipers and the NOS system. After MontrealRacing.com live video from the Paul Walker Memorial ride where we interviewed Dave, a good samaritan named Rocky learned of the project and decided to donate a Getrag transmission. The gesture elated David who decided to hand Rocky the keys to his Nissan 300ZX as a gift.
MontrealRacing.com will be in contact with Dave to follow up on the project until its completion. His dream is to one day see his car featured in a future film from the series which he’s certain would be a hit with fans such as himself who grew up following it.
