On Thursday, August 24, ICAR will be unveiling the much-anticipated Route 66 attraction at its racing complex in Mirabel.
What is Route 66? In 1926 the route was established as a main highway connecting Chicago Illinois with Santa Monica, California and passing though the states of Missouri, Kansas, Oklahoma, Texas, New Mexico and Arizona. It spurred the economies of the communities through which it passed is legendary in popular culture.
Route 66 was eventually replaced by the interstate highway system but parts of the highway still exist today and are even being restored to their former glory.
To commemorate the good ol’ days, ICAR has recreated a scene from historic route 66 featuring a permanent bar, cars implanted in the ground, 1950s décor and much more.
The grand opening event will be featuring a live band, live animation from MontrealRacing event coordinator Thibault Buslot and, of course, drag racing. A number of vendors will be present (including MontrealRacing) at the launch and they expect a huge turnout. This is an event not to be missed.
