What was the point of BMW Canada to shut down Jalbert only to open BMW WEST ISLAND 2 exits down on highway 40? Sure, the new dealership is owned by Bourassa Group, but do they really think they can have a successful west island dealership if another one failed a short time ago? This new dealership will be competing with Bmw Canbec which is maybe 15 minutes away.

A BMW dealership also opened up in Blainville and i don't know how long that dealership will last considering BMW Laval is only 15 minutes away.

With shitty economy it makes me wonder what some people were thinking.

I went to the canbec and I didn't really like it, I think that if they offer good service and relation with the customer, good looking show room, they could make it. Still pointless to open 2 luxury dealers so close I agree.

Jalbert opened up in 1993 if I remember correctly. Service was crappy except at the parts dept, Sylvain is awesome though. The dealership itself was outdated and couldn't expand. BMW Canada didn't renew their contract.

There are a ton of BMWs in the West of Montreal and even off the island.. Imagine having to drive from Hudson to Canbec for servicing.. Remember dealers don't make money from selling cars.. they make money servicing them.

Si y'a aucun dealer passé l'ouest de l'ile, ca aurait été aussi bien mettre le dealer dans le coin de Dorion, l'ile perrot alors.

I noticed the new dealership going up as well (near Leon's) and had the same thoughts. My wife has an '07 3-series bought at Canbec and I have to say the service is really bad. We go to Laval for service but man its like a 35 min drive which is annoying. A new West Island location will be nice.

I'd only go to a BMW dealer if I had the free scheduled maintenance package. Otherwise I'd do it myself, the maintenance minders are easy to reset.

Jailbert closed down because the owner wasn't paying his royalties. . .

And BMW West Island building is being designed to look like all the new updated BMW dealers. So instead of demolishing the existing, outdated Jailbert and building new in the same lot, they just decided to build up the street.

yeah exactly, but the old location is a bit more central

I'd say the new location is better, actually. Closer to the 13, St-Laurent...

BMW Blainville is horrrrrrrrrrible..... I've got nothing good to say about 'em....

And from what I hear about Canbec, it's a definite "stay away"

A west island location sounds good, only because it's a new alternative to these other ones

I'm still on warranty for a while, so a decent dealership with SA's that give a damn sounds nice.

One of my best friends got a job there in sales, the sales people are starting this week I think...I'll go check it out in a few weeks.

All BMW dealerships seem to exert horrible service. Canbec, Laval, Blainville, etc. Hopefully, there will be better servicing here.

As for the location, it think it is better than the old one for the simple reason that most of the population in the West Island take the 40 to head east for work, school, etc. With the old emplacement, only the population from St-Charles pass in front, while those coming from St-Jean or Des Sources are left out. Strategically, it's a better location.

The economy hasn't really affected BMW Laval's sales much. My dad has been working there for the past year on and off, they've been moving 250 BMWs a month on average for the past 2 years, which is unreal. 2nd best selling BMW dealership in Canada.

I think the new location is a prime place to get a lot of exposure. Most people driving to work will pass by that location versus their old location. BMW Canbec is still off of decarie, no one sees it. It's like every time I drive to go to the airport... I always spot the Bugatti dealership and also the porsche dealership off the 40.

I don't know about the Blainville... but if people are driving from all the way out there, might as well drive in luxury.

^^ That drive is an absolute pain, especially for someone who lives on the island like me. Thing is, I was promised such a better deal and such better service.... Now, everytime i read "BMW BLAINVILLE" i throw up in my mouth a little..... really hoping the west island location can up the ante!
