If you are a cyclist and you hit a truck you are a fuken moron! I dont care if you a a gril, a boy, old young whatever. If you are unable to avoid a fuken truck stay the fuk home.

Why not ban motorized vehicles all together so cyclists can roam free and safe and cause 76 bikes pileups like on tv?

Instead of telling Cyclist s to pay fuken attention and not hit huge loud visible 50 foot long slow moving vehicles , they are once again fucking motorists in the ass with a 18" dick which is already 16" in.

Ridiculous.

dude... such mad. Get a punching bag, paint a bike on it and allow your inner bitch to express itself...

Soon everywhere.

Makes sense, after all the plan is to clog the streets of Montreal going at 40km/h.. it's not like I got anywhere to go

the only 2 things i agree with are :

- Moving the stop line 3.5 metres back from stop lights on arteries so bikes will have a safe, visible space in front of cars.
- Take necessary measures to secure garage and alleyway entrances.

I'm completely fine with these common sense suggestions. The rest have zero data backing up their assertions that it improves safety

bikes aren't the problem..its the hippies that ride them with their beard and tight jeans with no helmet.

5 mois de vélo facile

One of the change is:

Reducing the width of lanes on arteries from 3.5 metres to 3.2 metres. Right now some are as wide as 3.9 metres.

This will allow for more space in between parked cars and the car lanes, can't see how this is bad. If you have trouble keeping a car in between two lines spaced by 3.2m, you should not have driver's license. I'm constantly seeing people wandering left & right through the to wide lane space given to them like drunk retards.

I saw this week-end in Rosemont an example of "narrowing" the streets on Bordeau in between Bellechase and Beaubien. That street is stupid wide and it's not clear if its a one or two lane street. Solution? They are painting oblique parking spot on at least on full side of the street and a bike lane on the other. Result?
  • More parking spots
  • easier to plow/park in the winter
  • a dedicated bike lane, only painted but it's a start
  • a street that is not wide and straight like a boulevard and entice driving 70km/h in a dense residential area...

I don't understand what there is to be "mad bruh" about.

wait, there are lanes in Montreal?? have you ever driven on some of the plateau's major arteries?? some 2 and 3 lanes streets and boulevard have disappearing lane markings (if there are any at all), think of Parc ave across from jeanne-mance parc.

Depends on the car. A Versa? Sure no problem. A FORD Taurus or a Camry? Maybe. An F-150 or Dodge Ram? Good luck.

That's the issue here.

It's a bit like in the suburbs and even now in Ile Perrot. They've put all these little posts up all over the place, middle of the road, supposed to "force traffic to slow down" and it's "more effective than a speed bump" and what not.

Then they place the little post up, and I shit you not, I've seen some shaped like a little kid holding up his hand like he wants traffic to STOP for him, a cardboard cutout.

Next thing you know some old lady with cataracts will start seeing these pop up left right and center so eventually she figures out they're only cardboard cutouts (laminated, whatever) and starts to slow down less and less until one day there's an actual little boy crossing the street in front of her and she ignores him.

Or, as I've seen in the past and continue seeing all the time, they place these little fucking posts up in the middle of a 6m wide residential street but they don't put a "NO PARKING within 5m of the post" sign next to it so now there's always the village idiot that parks right alongside it because "y'a le doigt" and now it doesn't passe pas.

Rince...

Repeat...

Bullshit.

Although taking a shit on the Plateau area is pretty hip on MR, that's a problem we deal with all over Montreal. Its crap that plagues the live of cyclists and motorists able to understand when a street should be 2 or 3 lanes. Nothing beats having some retard, in front of you, drive their Corolla in the middle of everything blocking the way and forcing stupid passing maneuvers... what the fuck is wrong with better/narrower marking & more efficient streets?
