As most of you are aware, Laval Police have been heavily monitoring the Exclusive Mondays meet which takes place at Patates 2000 in Laval every week. For the last two weeks, roadblocks have been set up and vehicles with illegal modifications have been ticketed.
Meets have always been a touchy subject with Police. We’ve witnessed many meets shut down over the past fifteen years including Lafleurs on Des Sources, Marché Central, Walmart St-Dorothée and Orange Julep (though the Julep seems to always bounce back).
It’s up to the people participating in the meets to conduct themselves in a manner that doesn’t draw the attention of law enforcement. This is why muscle car meets seem to have less of an issue: the drivers are older, more responsible and they tend not to disturb the peace (too much).
Occasionally, stuff happens at a meet and MontrealRacing reports on it because that’s what we do. People who aren’t there want to know what’s happening and the website exists, in part, to fulfill that demand.
We ran a story on a motorcyclist who pulled a stunt in front of police last night. The article was used as an excuse by police when explaining to Cedric why they will continue policing the meet. Since police officers witnessed the stunt live for themselves, it’s odd that they mentioned the article as a justification.
Cedric is a prominent figure in the tuning scene and a great friend of MontrealRacing.com so it’s unfortunate that something published here could be seen as negatively impacting the meet and by extension his shop which sponsors the meet. That is the last thing we want.
Therefore we want to give a shout out to Cedric for all the fine work he’s done and continues to do for the scene. He organizes the meets, shows, cruises, and is one of the most honest and trustworthy people around. If you need a dip, wrap, tires, wheels, parts or whatever, go see him. He deserves it.
We’ll keep you posted on what becomes of Exclusive Mondays.
