Luxury 4 cylinder SUV

My wife has a 2016 X1 and we've been driving it since May 2016. Mediterranean Blue, Premium enhanced packaged (Mocha interior with spots seats, heads-up display, heated steering, automatic trunk, panoramic sunroof, etc).

This little SUV drives great. HP might seem low, but with 258 lb/ft of torque, it gets you where you want to go when needed (and I can't stand the lack of power in a car). It's a little slow when starting from a dead stop, but nothing unbearable.

The best mileage I managed to acheive was 7.5 L / 100 km in June with two adults, two kids (baby seats and all) plus luggage for a three-day trip in Quebec City, at a speed of 125km/h.

City / highway average since we own the SUVis 9.6L/100 km, and this includes a trip to Charlevoix (tons of 10%-13% hills) with a huge ski box on the roof. I track all the mileage we do, so this is as accurate as it gets.

Before making the move with the X1, we also considered the X3, the Acura RDX and the Q5. My wife decided to go with the X1 because of how it drives, how it looks and she picked it over the X3 because of the newer interior (more recent generation compared to the X3 which will be renewed soon). Suprisingly, the storage capacity of the X1 is comparable to the X3, mainly because of presence of a lower compartment in the trunk (there is no spare tire):

Bottom line, a solid buy. Definitely one of the best options in this segment.

Cute wife, 'grats!

people who can afford luxury SUV's care about gas mileage because they care about the range. It's annoying to go fill up every 3 days vs every week.
or the company has gas allowance so the person is trying to maximize the savings.

filling up every 3 days is more an issue with the fuel tank capacity ....as long as you have a 70-80 liters tank you're in business,
i remember renting a hyundai accent or a kia rio and the tank was like 45 liters..this can be a problem to drive to remote areas...

lol
my mom got her X1 two weeks ago

I drove it a few times, short distances but I honestly think its a great bang for the buck... and the options are great

+ the T8 is hybrid.

T8 Hybrid is 120 000+$
never thought i'd see the day of Volvos in the six figures but saw that shit on Hebdo the other day.

Fantastic car and definitely a lottery win pick!

EDIT: NEVERMIND i'm full of shit. I just rechecked and it's only one special edition that is that pricy, the 2017 Volvo XC90 Hybrid T8 "PHEV Excellence" which might be some electric bastard

Come on. 45l at 6l/100 still gives you over 600km on the highway. Talk to bikers with 9-12l tanks about range anxiety.

Hahahahhaha! Unless it's due to financial reasons, I feel sorry for you. Buy the car you want - deal with the fuel usage. Buying a luxury car and trying to save 3-4$ on a tank of fuel is bad money management.

Yup, but the OP is talking about mileage as in fuel usage. At least, that's how I understood it.

Had the previous gen. for a decade, dealer lent me a new T6 for 48hrs. Loved the interior look and tech, the seats are even more comfortable, good road presence but it's rough and 'crashed' over bumps. Volvo has yet to figure out a good SUV suspension.

QX30 est tous nouveau. Tu veut dire QX50.

the way we drive and up the mountains..it was averaging 10-11...l/100..not so much after 400 km you;re done..just going up to saint-michel des saints, in the reserve and your're on empty coming back..we had a spare 20liters..just in case..
no gas station open at night in the area..
