News: Porsche Pajun to compete with BMW 5-Series, Benz E-Class

Fait a remarquer qu'ils etaient encore plus mal pris avant les 924/944 et 928. Quije souligne jouissait a l'epoque d'une technologie plus avancêe encore aijourd'hui que la corvette. Dans les années 70!

You forgot 968

LOL! No way on earth are those cars more "technologically" advanced than Modern Corvette... Unless you consider an overly complicated 8V (later 16v)engine and torsion bar rear suspension advanced...

Cool cars, cars that I like a lot but very finicky cars... However if you are willing to invest the money in suspension and keep it running a very rewarding car to drive.

You w0t m8? And you determine this how?
Porsche bro. It don't look as grown up bro.

Not saying anything against this car, because frankly I have not much to go by. But the difference in looks suggest that it'll attract a pretty different crowd: likely not the same as e classes or 5 series.

The Boxster was the main reason that Porsche was saved(Toyota was heavily involved). Thanks to the Boxster they were able to produce a really cheap 911(996), the 996 shares about 3/4 of it's parts in common with the 986. It also introduced a good little entry level car for Porsche that. Not only did the Boxster sell in droves but so did early 996s thanks to a good economy and the dotcom boom. Earlier 911s were quite expensive to produce thanks to sharing nearly nothing in common with other models. Mind you older 911s are much much better built and everything is much better quality. Just compare the leather between a 993 and 996/7.

Never knew that, interresting.. Here is what i googled:

Porsche called in a group of retired Toyota executives to teach them about "lean" manufacturing, "constant improvement" and other strategies that had made Toyota a world automotive superpower. It was a brave act in a tradition-bound company ruled by proud engineers, but Wiedeking knew Porsche must modernize or else.

The Germans were shocked and humbled when the Japanese faulted most everything from initial planning to final assembly. When the dust settled, payroll was cut from nearly 9,000 to 6,800, parts inventory slashed by 82 percent, and the Zuffenhausen plant completely reorganized. Another outcome was Porsche's first tear-down shop, where competitive cars could be taken apart and analyzed.

I'm all for Porsche being profitable so it can keep making the 911 but... I'm affraid that P is turning more and more into a marketing driven company.

Yea it is but Porsche is still keeping its core values of making excellent cars. Everything they make does drive fantastic.

BMW on the other hand "we need to have a car for every segment, if not invent a new segment. Then change the line up and introduce some hatchback models and a few SAVs that drive like poop. While you're at it slap M badges on everything "

True and applicable to Audi and MB as well. As for Porsche, I hate the Cayenne but can live with the Panamera. The new Cayman S is a 911 killer, why pick the new 991?

Very Aston Martinish rear end.

Better than the Panamera

I personally don't mind the whole diversification of the Porsche lineup as long as the more traditional sports segments stay alive & well... Not like I'm gonna cringe when I start seeing these Pajuns rollin' hard downtown... Wouldn't buy one but will be good for our automotive landscape...
